Huckins Yachts Prefers ALEXSEAL® Durability
From their headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida Huckins Yachts custom builds classic powerboats with a noticeably nostalgic flare. The company is also a leader in the region’s yacht servicing market, performing a large variety of refits and updates to yachts of all kinds. For both new boat construction as well as restoration, the expert craftsmen at Huckins have found ALEXSEAL to offer superior products that exceed all expectations for their coating projects.
“One of the nicer parts about the product is that it’s a repairable product. If someone comes in and ALEXSEAL’s been used on their boat, we can do a blend that doesn’t show a halo later on. It holds up extremely well in the Florida heat and salt water and that’s the nice thing. They don’t have to come back to us every 5 years for a paint job.”
-Cindy Purcell, Owner Huckins Yachts
ALEXSEAL a Go-To Product on West Coast
Alexseal’s superior marine paint products have been in the press recently, becoming a go-to product at San Diego Marine Exchange, a popular marine supply chain on the west coast of the United States.
Some recent changes in coatings found on the Beneteau and Jeanneau sailboats and power boats!! They are now being painted with the Alexseal Coatings. This is a great product line and it all started for me in 2004. I was in Florida at an IBEX show and I was introduced to Alexseal Yacht Coatings, owned by Mankiewicz Coatings Company founded in 1895 and it is located in Hamburg, Germany. Alexseal is a popular Linear Polyurethane Coating used in the maritime industry for painting small boats to large mega yachts. As I learned more about this product line I became more impressed and I have continued to see and appreciate just how great a product this LP truly is.

Compounds without Compromise
Embarking on a journey to create USCG-approved 70’ catamarans that carry 149 passengers offshore is no small feat. Expeditions Six trusts only Mavrik Marine to produce this new One2Three Naval Architects design for the Hawaiian Islands and Mavrik Marine only trusts Alexseal’s Protective Primers to inhibit corrosion and promote adhesion when building their steel and aluminum vessels. Mavrik Marine continues to grow their portfolio of custom workboats as Expeditions Six successfully serves as the Maui-Lana’i passenger ferry. Zachery Battle, CEO of Mavrik, believes his company’s immense growth is due to his employees’ superior skills and his experience in the marine industry. “We use products from Alexseal because they are tried and true. 300 Feet and Counting
“Application and repairability, that’s why we chose Alexseal over Awlgrip,” explains Edwin Post about the three and a half year refit project on the 100-meter S/Y Attessa IV. The vessel started her life in 1999 as 91-meter Evergreen (Diana Yacht Design) but underwent an extensive transformation when purchased by billionaire Dennis Washington in 2007. The prep-work and application to cover 80 feet near the transom demanded a coatings system that would flawlessly blend with the existing dark blue hull. Post praised the Alexseal sales and support team adding, “Jeff Holland and Alex Sandas stand behind their products and are very helpful.” Continuous application on projects like these require coatings with a forgiving nature to repair gloss
imperfections. “She’s big… and long… we just could not afford a failure with the spray color or clear coat. Alexseal stands up better.”

ALEXSEAL® Finds a Friend in Fraser
Fraser Fibreglass is a full-service shipyard in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada providing all types of yacht repairs and restorations. Founded by Philip & Amanda O’Donoghue in 1980, Fraser Fibreglass is proficient with high performance polyester urethanes and have applied these types of coatings to yachts, skytrains, aircraft and even architectural structures. After being introduced to ALEXSEAL by Sales Manager Alex Sandas, Philip tells us the products have given them great success including on his own personal boat.
From Philip O’Donoghue, Owner/Operator, Fraser Fibreglass:
“One of the major advantages is that ALEXSEAL is an incredibly hard coating, yet it is still repairable. Many other polyester urethanes cannot be repaired to the yacht standard with a high gloss finish.”

Sea Tow San Diego Puts Paint Durability to the Test
Sea Tow’s San Diego, California operation is responsible for the safe recovery and salvage of stranded vessels along with mariner services including re-fueling and jump starts. They manage a large area stretching from Newport Beach, California, USA south to the waters of coastal Mexico with a fleet of six boats.
From Jared Stubbs, Owner, Sea Tow San Diego:
“This is the toughest paint I have seen, bar none.”
Recently, Sea Tow San Diego purchased a SAFE Boat Defender 250 from the United States Coast Guard which needed some fresh paint. Unfortunately, within just a few weeks of receiving a professionally applied paint job, the material began cracking and falling off of the boat. A suggested solution was to simply touch up the paint, but this also yielded poor results. Frustrated owner and lead Captain, Jared Stubbs turned to ALEXSEAL’s Western U.S. Sales Manager, Alex Sandas for help. “He was extremely helpful. He even set us up with a painter to complete the job,” Stubbs recalls. Joe Connors of Marina Shipyard in Long Beach, California prepped and painted the boat in Sea Tow’s distinctive yellow and black color scheme.
