As Alexseal continues to celebrate our Decade of Innovation, world-renowned, North American-based ship builder Westport is celebrating one half century of boat building excellence. Founded in 1964, Westport has built over 200 commercial boats and more than 140 recreational yachts. In the private yacht sector, Westport specializes in yachts ranging from 26 – 50 meters (85’ – 164’) and has been a pioneer in the use of stronger, lightweight composite materials, including carbon fiber.
Westport proudly maintains the status of being the largest yacht builder in North America. This amazing accomplishment of growth is a result of their dedication to every detail in every yacht they build, and is shown through their expansive staff of naval architects, marine engineers and multi-generational ship builders. Since 2008, Westport has chosen the complete Alexseal system on all of their recreational motoryacht builds. Beginning with the initial filling and fairing, onward through the Alexseal system to the brilliant, mirrored, high-gloss finish, Alexseal protects and beautifies every Westport yacht that leaves their Washington state ship yards.
The most recent splash from Westport is hull number 12 of their flagship 50 meter tri-deck motoryacht, which is just one of several launches the company plans to perform in 2014. The first hull of the Westport 50 meter was launched in the summer of 2006, and twelve of these stunning yachts have been launched in the eight short years since, along with the dozens of other Westport launches from their model line-up.
In celebrating our Decade of Innovation, we continue to salute our customers, boat builders and applicators that have helped Alexseal become a globally-known brand in the yachting market. We consider ourselves fortunate to be the preferred fairing and finishing system for Westport – the largest yacht builder in North America.
