Santa Cruz Marine located in the Monterey Bay area of California provides a full array of services to their customers including structural and cosmetic fiberglass work, plus full repaints. No boat or project is too big or too small for the Santa Cruz Marine team led by Chris Forrest. Chris has recently taken a liking to the ease-of-use and superior results of Alexseal products on several projects. This includes an all-aluminum NOAA research vessel that was plagued with peeling and blistering paint on both the deck and hull sides.
Another boat that was in need of paint rescue was a 1979 Santa Cruz 27 sloop. After nearly 4 decades of racing, her hull required 20-30 fiberglass repairs, and although gel coat repair and refinishing were also on the work order, the owner ultimately decided to repaint the hull.
“Alexseal products have become our favorite to use. They’re easy to spray and the drying times listed on the mixing charts are very accurate”, Chris explains. Once the fairing and painting of the hull on this classic racing sloop were complete the owner was amazed at the finish, saying the boat looked brand new.
Now the owner has decided to paint the topsides and cabin in Alexseal along with applying non-skid to the deck. “These products are so easy to use because Alexseal provides a very detailed, well-written manual with step by step instructions for each one of their products in every weather condition,” Chris explains.
It’s clear Chris and the Santa Cruz Marine team has chosen Alexseal as their preferred coatings system, which has in turn, helped to impress their customers and generate some repeat business.
