Saga, the latest from North Carolina custom boat builder Ricky Scarborough, recently made her splash in Alexseal Fighting Lady Yellow. A custom designed 60′ sport fishing yacht, Saga turns heads and catches second glances with her long sleek lines. Faired and dressed in illustrious Alexseal topcoats and complimented by a full teak transom, cockpit & toe rail which complete the transition to her Cloud White deck and bridge.
Scarborough Boatworks unknowingly got its start in 1977 when commercial fisherman and boating hobbyist Ricky Scarborough began building a commercial fishing boat for himself. Under construction within the downstairs portion of his home at the time, a fellow local fisherman approached Scarborough and asked to purchase the boat, but Ricky needed it for the summer season. He agreed to sell it that autumn and then began another custom build to replace it. That was the start of what has been over 30 years and more than 80 custom projects from 25′ to 85′.
In 1978 Ricky built his first shop on the water in his hometown of Wanchese, North Carolina at the same location that he now continues operations. It has since been added onto numerous times in order to accommodate ever larger vessels. In 1993, Ricky Jr. came to work for his father, and in 2010 Ricky Sr. fully retired and passed the baton to Ricky Jr. who believes in taking the Scarborough boat to a new level while keeping the legacy and quality of what puts Scarborough boats in a league of their own.
The dedication and attention to detail that is placed into every custom build by Scarborough Boatworks helps to ensure a vessel offering decades of trouble-free enjoyment. And with the Alexseal Coatings System adorning this boat, many years may pass while the topcoat remains brand new in appearance and protection.
